Wellness and Vaccines

Our annual wellness exams allow us to monitor your pet’s overall health. During these exams, Dr. Farris will evaluate your pet’s health from head to tail. In addition, vaccinations will be updated, which are tailored to fit your pet’s lifestyle, age, and previous vaccine schedule. Our dog patients often require a yearly heartworm test that allows us to test for exposure to several tick-borne diseases and heartworm. We also ask that our clients bring in a stool sample to these appointments, so we can test for intestinal parasites. Lastly, these exams are the perfect time to get baseline bloodwork, discuss flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives, ask about prescription diets, have your pets’ nails trimmed or anal glands expressed, and discuss any concerns you may have.

Dentistry

Just like us, your pets' oral health is extremely important. Addressing dental health before our pets are elderly and have other disease processes going on is one of Dr. Farris’s priorities. During our dental procedures your pet will be closely monitored under anesthesia, where we will clean off excess tartar (scaling), and polish their teeth to get them sparkling and smelling fresh. If needed, Dr. Farris will perform oral surgery to remove masses or remove teeth. Our goal is to provide the best oral health possible for your pet.

In-Clinic Laboratory Diagnostics

Our in-clinic lab allows us to run a variety of diagnostics right here in the clinic, including complete blood count, chemistries, and urinalysis. These allow us to further help your pet if they are sick, get baseline blood work for surgical procedures, monitor an existing condition, or to just check on your pets’ overall health. Due to our machines being incredibly efficient, these labs are completed while you wait with your pet. For additional testing, we have the ability to send off samples as biopsies, cytologies and cultures, allowing the experts in clinical pathology and pathology to evaluate the samples.

Radiology & Ultrasonography

Diagnostic imaging allows us to diagnose or confirm a diagnosis for your pet. Our new digital x-ray machine allows for images to be viewed immediately, leading to faster answers for you. We also have the option to send these images off to Dr. Matt Bischoff (Dr. B’s son), who is a veterinary radiologist. He can further diagnose and analyze your pet’s x-rays to complete diagnostics. In addition, we have a wonderful internal medicine specialist and cardiologist to evaluate abdominal ultrasounds and echocardiograms as needed.

Nutritional Consultation

What your pet eats is essential to their health and wellbeing. Many prescription diets can help alleviate or prevent health issues. We carry a multitude of familiar brands, such as Purina ProPlan, Hill’s Science Diet and Royal Canin. Your pet’s diet can be specialized to target weight loss, kidney issues, digestive tract issues, and much more. We can tailor a special diet plan to make your pet full, happy, and healthy.

Medical Procedures

We offer a variety of medical procedures including abscess treatment, dermatology procedures, radiography, ultrasonography, cardiology, fine needle aspirates, and wound care and bandaging. We also have access to board certified internal medicine specialists and cardiologists for other cases. Your pet will always be able to receive the care they need.

Surgical Procedures

Dr. Farris is well qualified to perform a variety of surgical procedures. In addition, we always have experienced team members monitoring your pet under anesthesia. Our clinic schedules surgeries on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with emergency surgeries performed as needed. Surgical procedures include spays and neuters, mass removals, declaws, exploratory procedures, and bladder stone removal (cystotomy). If there is a surgical procedure beyond Dr. Farris’s expertise, she is able to call on a board-certified veterinary surgeon to come perform the surgery at FVC.

our services

Euthanasia

We know that saying goodbye to a pet can be a difficult decision. At FVC, we try to make the process a little easier for you. We offer several aftercare options for your pet and work closely with Pet Angel for cremation services, so that you can remember your pet the best way you see fit. We also offer, schedule permitting, at home euthanasia to help make you and your pet more comfortable.

Arthritis and Pain Management

At Fayette Veterinary Clinic, we treat and manage arthritis with a multifaceted approach.  From joint supplements, to oral medications, to acupuncture, physical therapy and rehabilitation, we find the most success out of approaching our elderly pet’s pain in multiple ways.

Microchip

Microchipped pets are over 50% more likely to be reunited with their owners. At FVC, we work with HomeAgain to microchip your pet. The chip is inserted under the skin through an injection which we then scan and double check to ensure all the numbers match up for our records and yours. If your pet was to ever run away, any clinic or shelter in the United States could get in contact with you to reunite with your pet.

our services

Grooming

We are now offering grooming services for not only your dogs, but your cats too!  Short hair, long hair?  We have you covered.  Kellie offers many years of experience and an excellent ability to work with your pet.  Grooming services are offered on Monday and Friday.

Acupuncture & Cold Laser

Acupuncture gives us another modality to help decrease pain and improve the quality of life for your pet.  It allows us to more directly target the area of discomfort in comparison to systemic medications.  Dr. Sarah Blanchett, a veterinarian who is certified in rehabilitation and acupuncture, offers this service for us.  Through acupuncture and cold laser, she is able to help numerous pets suffering from soft tissue injuries, arthritis, or surgery recovery.  Another great part?  Acupuncture and laser therapy is very relaxing and or pets love it!

Rehabilitation

In conjunction with acupuncture and cold laser, Dr. Sarah Blanchett offers rehabilitation services. Just as physical therapy for humans can help prevent the need for surgery and improve our quality of life, rehabilitation can go a long way for our pets.  Through stretches, increasing mobility, and strengthening, we can work with our pets to give them a better quality of life, improve surgery recovery, and get them back to their usual activity level.
